Inspired by two masters: Camille Claudel and Ousmane Sow. Two epoques, two styles, two techniques, two ingenious creators.

Installed in her Toulouse suburban studio Nathalie Proumen unveils herself using a style borrowed from exotism. Fascinated by the primitive lifestyles of deepest Africa, Amazonia, or Asia, her figurative sculptures in terracotta, and in bronze, are as much views of life, as captured then freed instants, interrupted breaths, which give her work a subtle and powerful vibration of life.

The original work is produced in a special white glazed clay. After drying, it is fired at approximately 1000°c. in an electric kiln. A mould in elastomer is then poured. This mould allows the reproduction in wax of the original. Once retouched, the work in wax is in turn covered with plaster. The new mould containing the piece is called the mould "à cire perdue", which serves for the pouring of the bronze. Pouring, sanding and finishing the work are carried out by an art caster.
